At the Oct., 1991, meeting Tom Taylor was elected the 1992 Commodore of All Ports Yacht Club. At this same meeting, Past Commodore Larry McCloskey announced that Venetian Marina would not allow All Ports Yacht Club or South Shore Cruising Club to use Venetian as a home port to qualify for membership in I-LYA. Tom Taylor, some of the past commodores, and John Kula met with Tom Solberg, the owner of Huron Lagoons. Tom Solberg agreed to give APYC home port status in 1992 so that the application and fee could be submitted to I-LYA by All Ports Yacht Club. A shed was offered to the club for the storage of club supplies, and club members volunteered to paint the shed. This activity was followed by a dance with a live band on the concrete pad at Huron Lagoons.

Commodore Tom Taylor officially opened the 1992 season with bagpipe players and the blessing of the fleet in May at Huron Lagoons. The service activities with Christie Lane and Betty Rinderle Schools were held at the Huron Lagoons' dock and restaurant, called "The Viking Den." In July 1992, the club went to Lemington, Canada with GCBA. Canada Day was celebrated with dinner, dancing, crafts, and water games. Later that summer, there was a cruise to Maumee Yacht Club where 12 APYC boats held a luau, complete with leis and "grass" skirts. In August, the club joined with IOBG members of District 7 for a weekend at Put-In-Bay. Tom and Judy Taylor often entertained, and held meetings on their boat, the Judy Carol III. In stead of a Commodore's ball, Tom and Judy hosted a Christmas party at their home in Columbus. (Remember the men lined up singing and dancing to "Elvira?")
